6:14pm Friday June 27, Kenai, AK

My grandmother would have been proud. I just went to Fred Meyers and bought: 10 pillows, 30 fitted sheets, 1 coffee pot, 5 packs of pillow cases, 5 mattress protectors, 12 packages of chow mein, 1 rotisserie chicken, 1 gallon of milk, 1 loaf of bred, a bunch of bananas, 4 granny smith apples, some honey, and a box of cereal and I fit it all in one shopping cart. :) It's those Zimmerman packing genes. I had to go leave my cart with customer service while i filled a second cart with 3 soccer balls, 1 football, a 4 pack of ping pong paddles, 8 packages of ping pong balls, and 1 broom dust pan combination. It was an exciting day at Fred Meyers.

On an up note: Project literacy is alive and well in Alaska...not. When i asked the manager to hold my first cart for me she said she would put a sign on it so that people wouldn't touch it. I didn't believe that people would leave my cart alone...on the east coast people would be curious why a cart full of items was abandoned by the customer service desk and start picking through it thinking the items were on sale. She came over with a hand written note that said 'No tochie,' "See it says 'No touchy.'" I wanted to say 'according to who?' but it's not my job to teach her the fundamentals of the english language. And i know you are probably thinking...she just forgot a letter...but i don't think that is the case here.

A few weeks ago i looked up how to fold a fitted sheet on the internet. My mom can fold them so effortlessly and so quickly and for the longest time i couldn't figure it out. I knew that one side tucked into the other and then more folding and tucking but i never understood how to make all of the corners square. But now i have the hang of it and after washing and folding 30 of them i am going to be the queen.
